Only one hour by bullet train from Tokyo, Karuizawa is a pristine wilderness getaway and one of the most famous resort areas in Japan.  It is also a very international-oriented town and a hub for cross-cultural exchange.  In recent years, this summer getaway town has transformed itself into one of the preeminent locations for resort workations and offsite meetings.

There is nothing like breathing in crisp, clean air or taking a light stroll through the majestic forests of Karuizawa to clear the mind and refresh between meetings.  Better yet, start the day with some rejuvenating yoga and add in some outdoor team-building activities to build camaraderie and get the creative juices flowing.  Just a few hours with our wellness team in the great outdoors will help your team bond and give them a new-found drive, focus and excitement they can take back to the workplace! 

We offer a host of both indoor and outdoor activities to handle whatever weather comes our way.  And each of our programs is customized to your specific needs.

Introduction to Mindfulness


Mindfulness training has become a staple in the business world as a key activity to support employee wellness.


This fun, introductory session is designed to educate participants on what mindfulness is and how it works. Our goal is to inspire beginners and more advanced practitioners alike to cultivate regular practice and apply mindfulness to daily life.

The session is a combination of lecture, individual mindfulness practice and pair work.  Participants will get a taste of our cornerstone offering, the MANTHAN Corporate Wellness Training Program, designed by founder and long-time meditation and mindfulness coach, Maneesh Kalra.


Mindfulness Practice

​Duration:1hr ~ per topic

These sessions are all about experiencing the benefits of mindfulness through practice.  Topics covered include resilience, empathy, unconscious bias and other areas that are key to encouraging healthy interpersonal relationships。


We use a combination of lecture, discussion, and games along with  techniques for better posture, concentration, breathing and mindful living to help participants go inside themselves and, ultimately, better see themselves. Through this process, participants are better able to understand unconscious habits and biases; a key step in changing how one relates to the world.

Ayurvedic Approach to Healthy Eating



Ayurveda is a 5000 year old practice of traditional Indian medicine founded on the 'tridosha' theory.  The three 'dosha' represent physical/mental constitutions. Ayurveda recommends food and other lifestyle choices as well as curative therapies that match one's individual constitution and their current environment.

In this session, we look at simple assessment techniques, use them to understand our personal 'dosha' and learn how we can choose diet and other lifestyle choices that promote our individual health and wellbeing, improve immunity and help us ward of disease.


Mindful Eating


Many of us are, on a daily basis, unconsciously pulled into 'emotional eating'. Emotional eating is when we eat because of stress, or we want to reward ourselves or we need comfort rather than making food choices to satisfy hunger and nutrition requirements.

To be physically healthy, food choices and how we eat, digest and assimilate the food are critical. 'Mindful Eating' is an invaluable tool to support these efforts.


In this session participants will gain knowledge about emotional and mindful eating through a lecture-discussion, and they will also engage in a physical, mindful eating experience.

Stretch / Yoga Lesson

Add this fun, interactive yoga and stretch session between meetings to help re-energize and re-focus participants. We customize these classes based on the needs of the group providing everything from slow, relaxation stretching to strong, higher-energy flow yoga.

We also offer a variety of yoga and stretching for specific needs.  Topics include but are not limited to:

・Chair yoga you can do at your desk

・Yoga for lower back pain, stiff shoulders and neck

・Yoga for golfers

・Yoga and breathing for better, deeper sleep

・Yoga for improving energy

・Yoga for boosting immunity

Mindful Walking (Walking Meditation)

Duration:1hr~half day

Mindful walking is a great way to hone the basic tools of mindfulness while getting some sunshine and fresh air.  Experience all the natural beauty Karuizawa has to offer through new eyes with our mindful mountain, waterfall, or lake excursions. And we can add outdoor yoga, sitting meditation, earthing/grounding, or other seasonal activities to the program.

Outdoor Yoga

When the weather is right, nothing beats some outdoor yoga. Feel Mother Nature in all her glory in each and every deep breath and enjoy some individual or pair yoga under the trees.

*Pair yoga can be a great team-building tool combining skills such as mindful listening, empathy, and active support.

Are locations for activities and meetings fixed?

If your company or team is already planning an offsite or retreat, we can generally accommodate to providing the sessions at your location.  Otherwise, based on your needs and interests and the season, we can recommend locations for outdoor activities and indoor meetings.


What happens to outdoor events if it rains?

For all outdoor activities we have in place back-up indoor activities that achieve similar goals.  So, whether it is team-building, mindfulness living, or breathing for better immunity, rest-assured we have you (and the season) covered.


Is there a limit on participant number?

All programs are based on bookings for groups.  Depending on size of group, program interest, budget and season, we can provide suitable options.  


Do you provide sessions in English?

Yes, we offer all of our sessions and programs in English or Japanese.
